Tumakuru is a district headquarter in Karnataka state situated on NH-4 (Bangalore-Pune highway) at a distance of 60 km from Bangalore and 85 Km from the Bangalore International Airport. The earliest record of the district exists from 400 A.D The district is known for the production of coconuts, hence colloquially called as Kalpataru Nadu'. The district consists of elevated land intersected by river valleys. Tumkuru is being developed as a smart city under central government program. Tumakuru is also a part of Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor and has emerged as an important center for education, industry and commerce in the state. In and around Tumakuru there are several historical places to visit, such as, Siddaganga, Shivagange, Devarayanadurga, Yedeyur, Shravanabelagola, Belur, Halebeedu, etc.
The Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumakuru was established in the year 1963 by Sree Siddaganga Education Society (SSES),founded and nurtured by His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji, a centenarian. The college is an autonomous institution affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and programmes accredited by NBA, New Delhi. At present, the institute offers 13 Undergraduate Programmes and 11 Postgraduate programmes. The institute has well qualified, experienced and competent faculty. 15research centres of the institute are recognized by Visvesvaraya Technological University and offer Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Eng..) by research. The department of Industrial Engineering & Management have 12 committed faculty members among which 9 faculty members possess Ph.D.in various fields. Active research is going on in various areas in the department with sponsored projects from industries and R&D organizations. Department is one of the research centres recognized by Visvesvaraya Technological university. It has well equipped laboratories and Research Centre.
International Conference on Sustainable Materials, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of materials, manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, like sustainable materials and manufacturing, industry 4.0, intelligent manufacturing, green supply chain management etc. to name a few broader domains. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields coming under the scope of Sustainable Materials, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering.
